Elements and Performance Criteria
- Prepare for maintenance
- Review work order and where required check with appropriate personnel.
- Select appropriate repair, maintenance and personal protective equipment and check for operational effectiveness.
- Remove caul plates and screens for maintenance from designated machinery.
- Plan maintenance process in line with work order.
- Change, clean and polish caul plates
- Follow organisational safety procedures and manufacturer’s recommendations throughout all maintenance and repair processes.
- Identify plates requiring cleaning and move from circuit to plate rack.
- Process plates through full cleaning cycle; inspect for defects and separate for repair where required.
- Dry plates, prepare for use and return to circuit.
- Polish plates using polishing table and head.
- Store polished plates for use in line with work order.
- Store or dispose of unused chemicals in line with environmental protection practices.
- Prepare backing screens
- Remove and replace transport plates
- Coordinate load shifting and transport requirements to remove and replace transport plates with minimal downtime.
- Identify defective plates, remove from circuit and dispose of these in line with environmental protection practices.
- Prepare and fit replacement plates.
- Record and report process outcomes and equipment faults to appropriate personnel.
